WARDOGS Controls — All PC Keybinds & Controller Bindings

Every default WARDOGS PC keybind: movement, weapons, vehicles, helicopters, building and UI — plus controller bindings and how to rebind keys in Early Access.

Last verified: 2026-09-15Priority: P0Source-tagged facts below

WARDOGS controls follow the modern military-shooter convention — WASD to move, Left Shift to sprint, F to interact — but the game also hides a few bindings new players miss: Q/E lean, V melee bash, Middle Mouse to ping, and J/K push-to-talk. Below is the full default PC keybind list, compiled from community control guides and cross-checked against the in-game Settings > Controls menu layout.

WARDOGS is in Early Access and keybinds can change between patches — if a binding below feels off, check the in-game menu (and see our rebinding notes at the bottom). Helicopter flight controls have their own deep-dive page: WARDOGS helicopter controls.

Quick answer: movement is standard — WASD move, Left Shift sprint, Space jump, Ctrl prone, F interact, R reload. The ones new players miss: Q/E lean, V melee bash, G mounts bipods (not grenades), Middle Mouse ping, J/K push-to-talk. The complete table by category, controller bindings and rebinding warnings are below.

Controller Bindings (Xbox / PlayStation)

Controller layouts follow the infantry / ground-vehicle / air-vehicle split. The shared infantry basics: RT/R2 fire, LT/L2 aim, A/Cross jump, B/Circle crouch-prone, X/Square interact & reload, L3 sprint & hold-breath, R3 ping, and D-Pad Down toggles voice chat. In air vehicles the left stick is the cyclic, the right stick handles pedals / free look, and RT/R2 raises collective and fires. Full per-vehicle layouts are listed in the community control guides this page is compiled from.

Controller-specific facts from a beta-build settings guide: controller support is officially partial — the three schemes could not be remapped and there was no vibration (both flagged as hoped-for additions). There is a slight aim assist, and the tested baseline was: horizontal sensitivity 2.3, vertical 1.6 (~50–70% of horizontal), ADS multiplier 0.35, linear acceleration curve, and custom deadzones (right stick center pulled to 3%, triggers set to hair-trigger). All controller numbers are beta figures — to be verified in Early Access. Community report · 2026-09-15

Rebinding Notes for Early Access

  • Rebind in Settings > Controls; each action can hold one key, and assigning a key already in use unbinds it from the other action silently — re-check your set after big changes. Community report · 2026-09-15
  • Avoid binding flight controls to Space: the key also fires some vehicle weapons, which has caused accidental-discharge reports — the Season 1 changelog lists this as fixed, so re-test after updating. Stated by developer · 2026-09-16 Community report · 2026-09-15
  • If your keybinds fail to save after a crash, the community fix is resetting the config file at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wardogs\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini (back it up first). Community report · 2026-09-15

Once your binds feel right, tune your view and frames with best settings, then learn the rotor side properly in helicopter controls. Connection trouble after remapping? That is not your keybinds — see server status and error codes. While you're in the settings, note the six role tracks — the classes & roles guide maps which actions level which role.

Looking for Console Commands?

There is no developer-console command system in WARDOGS — unlike Source-style shooters, you can't open a console to change settings or spawn items. What players sometimes mean by "commands":

  • In-game actions are all keybinds — the full table is above; rebinding is covered in the notes below.
  • Server admins run dedicated servers through third-party management tools (Discord bots and RCON panels built by the community) rather than an in-game console — that ecosystem is separate from the client game and is not required to play.
